the king of fruits

Durian! Who doesn't love durian? Widely known as the king of fruits in Asian countries because of its distinct smell and thorny appearance. The fruit can grow as large as 30 centimeters long and 15 centimeters in diameter, and it typically weighs one to three kilograms. Its shape ranges from oblong to round, the colour of its husk green to brown, and its flesh pale yellow to red, depending on the species.
The edible flesh emits a distinctive odor, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust. Is that true?
I saw my aunt Lek Fong posted up in Facebook discussing about durian with one of her friends and what she said was true.
Foreigner says "on the net that it smells like sewers and vomit but tastes like custard" (2010)
Aunt says "this is how foreigners describe it but to us the natives, it's the best thing on earth. They are seasonal from May to July. They are being banned from all posh hotels because of the smell. once u have eaten it, the smell lingers on in your mouth for ages." (2010)
Is it really that bad? Or it is just not familiar to foreign countries? You would have to taste it to find out!
